August 2026

Completed NSF I-Corps, Mid-Atlantic Hub

anchor completed the NSF I-Corps program through the Mid-Atlantic Hub, in partnership with Johns Hopkins Technology Ventures, in August 2026. Through the program, we conducted structured customer discovery interviews with clinicians, health system stakeholders, and researchers to pressure-test the assumptions behind anchor's approach to advance care planning. The strongest and most consistent finding across those conversations: naming a health care agent is the single highest-value output of an advance care planning conversation, confirmed independently across multiple institutions.

Summer 2026

Advisory board

Over the summer, anchor formed an advisory board spanning health law, emergency medicine, and nursing home and post-acute care. Diane Hoffmann, JD, MS, the Jacob A. France Professor of Health Care Law at the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law, advises on legal and regulatory questions. Carolina Mendoza, MD, MBA, FAAEM, Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, advises on clinical and emergency care perspective. Joan Carpenter, PhD, CRNP, ACHPN, FGSA, FPCN, FAAN, Associate Professor at the University of Maryland School of Nursing, advises on nursing home and post-acute care.
